The present invention relates to a method for preventing an APD damage caused by change in a breakdown voltage at a low temperature, comprising: comparing a current temperature with a first low temperature threshold; comparing a second low temperature threshold value with a second low temperature threshold value when the current temperature is low; adding a first correcting value to a V_APD when the current temperature is high; and adding a second correcting value to the V_APD when the current temperature is low. Accordingly, the present invention can maintain optimum reception sensitivity in a condition where the temperature of the module changes, and prevents the APD damage caused by change in the breakdown voltage under low temperature conditions, thereby protecting the APD.
