The present invention relates to a method for degrading low-grade coal by using Arthrobacter sp., and a method for producing an energy source by using the same. The method for degrading low-grade coal by using Arthrobacter sp. comprises the step of growing Arthrobacter sp. in a culture medium including coal and thus converting the coal into a dissolved and degraded product. The method for producing an energy source by using the method comprises the steps of: growing Arthrobacter sp. in a culture medium including coal and thus converting the coal into a dissolved and degraded product; and acquiring the dissolved and degraded product as an energy source. The method for degrading low-grade coal by using Arthrobacter sp. according to the present invention can perform a coal degradation process in a milder condition than a chemical treatment method, can safely acquire industrially useful materials, such as alcohol, ammonia, hydrogen, methane, etc., through degradation reaction by using low-grade coal as a raw material, and can reduce the emission of harmful gases, such as carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and sulfoxide.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
