A device, e.g., a UE tunes away from a first RAT to a second RAT during active data delivery via a first RAT between the UE and the network device. The data activity delivery is related to either uplink data transfer from the UE or downlink data transfer to the UE, and the tuning awaiting starts a timer that affects data transfer activity. The UE may initiate the continuation of uplink data delivery upon tuning back to the first RAT, by resetting the timer and resetting at least one timer to send the SR to the network device. The UE may initiate the continuation of the downlink data transfer upon tuning back to the first RAT by causing the network device to exit the power saving mode, wherein the timer is associated with the network device and defines a cycle of the power saving mode.
