Disclosed are a communication device and a method for controlling a communication device. A communication device according to various embodiments of the present disclosure comprises: a transceiver which receives at lease one signal among a plurality of first signals, included in a first band, and a plurality of second signals included in a second band; memory which stores frequency history information; and a processor which is electrically connected to the transceiver and the memory. In this case, the processor may measure strengths of reception power for the received respective first signals, may determine a first candidate frequency set determined based on the measured strengths of the respective reception power, may determine a second candidate frequency set obtained through updating of the first candidate frequency set based on the frequency history information, and may determine whether a cell corresponding to each frequency included in the second candidate frequency set is present.
