Disclosed are a pen input device with a malfunction prevention function and a malfunction preventing method thereof. The pen input device with a malfunction prevention function includes: a rod-shaped housing having one end opened to be relatively narrow to form a receiving space; a resonance circuit part accommodated in the housing; a tip which is installed to protrude outwardly from the opened end of the housing to from a contact part to which pressure is applied with a dielectric material or to surround the contact part by the dielectric material, is movable in a preset range in a longitudinal direction of the housing, and perform self-centering; and a ground shielding part which is formed in a part where electromagnetic induction is generated except for the tip.
