The present invention relates to an anti-inflammatory composition comprising a sterol fraction of a Pyropia yezoensis extract as an active ingredient. The anti-inflammatory composition according to the present invention has an activity of reducing the level of nitric oxide (NO) discharged by inducible NO synthase (iNOS) and the level of an inflammatory cytokine, Interlukin-1β (IL-1β) in a concentration-dependent manner.
