The present invention relates to a smart library management apparatus and a method thereof. According the present invention, the smart library management apparatus for managing storage information of books stored in a bookshelf comprises: a storage unit for storing book management information including at least one among a title, a storage place, a storage bookshelf and a storage location in the storage bookshelf of each book; a photographing unit for photographing an image including a book and books on both sides of the book to generate photographing information; and a control unit for generating movement information of the book by comparing the photographing information with the book management information to update the generated movement information by reflecting the same in the book management information. According to the present invention, as described above, when a library is managed by using the smart library management apparatus, systematic library management can be easily achieved even if a user invests less time.
