An apparatus for displaying safe driving information using a head-up display and a method thereof are disclosed. The apparatus for displaying safe driving information using a head-up display includes a head-up display for displaying an image on the front surface of a vehicle; a GPS receiving part for receiving a GPS signal from a satellite; a peripheral information measuring part installed in the vehicle and measuring an object ahead; a map data storage part for storing road information for a driving route; and a control part which match the position of the object measured by the peripheral information measuring part to the coordinate of the head-up display, reads the road information corresponding to the position of the vehicle obtained from the GPS receiver from the map data storage part, calculates safety driving information based on the velocity of the vehicle and a road shape, and display it on the head-up display.
