The present invention provides a magnesium alloy with excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, and a manufacturing method for the same. According to the present invention, the magnesium alloy comprises: 0.001-1.0 parts by weight of scandium; and residues composed of magnesium and inevitable impurities. The magnesium alloy increases a solubility limit of Fe and reduces corrosiveness. According to the present invention, the magnesium alloy is able to improve the corrosion resistance of the magnesium alloy by adding scandium capable of not only suppressing corrosion of micro galvanic between a base and impurities without degradation of the mechanical properties, but also improving a passive state of a film formed on a surface. The magnesium alloy is able to usefully be used for various fields requiring weight lightening and biodegradation properties such as household items, home appliances, medical equipments, and transportation devices such as a vessel, an aircraft, a train, and a vehicle; and specifically, the magnesium alloy is able to usefully be used in the medical equipment coming in contact with a human body such as an implant such as a stent and a plate.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
