The present invention relates to a functional health food for preventing or ameliorating arthritis containing a DNA fragment mixture consisting of a DNA fragment mixture with molecular weight of 2500-5000 kDa inclusive, a DNA fragment mixture with molecular weight greater than or equal to 50 and less than 2500 kDa, and a DNA fragment mixture with molecular weight greater than or equal to 5 and less than 50 kDa. The DNA fragment mixture significantly suppresses production of inflammatory cytokines known as prevention indicators for degenerative arthritis when orally administered. Owing to excellent and long-lasting fast-acting properties and consistency, the DNA fragment mixture can be useful as functional health foods for preventing or ameliorating arthritis.
