The present invention relates to novel Capsicum annuum drought Tolerance RING 1 genes/proteins derived from a chili pepper, and to a method for improving drought stress resistance of plants using the same. The present invention investigated CaDTR1 genes which encode a drought stress resistance-enhancing protein against drought stress, and found that the CaDTR1 protein functions as a positive regulator of ABA signal transduction and a drought stress resistance-enhancing effect is exhibited in the transgenic plant in which the protein is over-expressed, thereby being utilized for improvement of crops, and the like available to human beings through expression regulation of CaDTR1 gene, and especially being expected to be useful for improving the productivity of plants.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
