The present invention relates to a real-time lane departure warning system and method having an improved processing speed. The method according to the present invention warns lane departure to a driver by using image information of a camera mounted on a vehicle when lane departure occurs, and the method comprises the steps of: receiving, as raw image data, road image information which is formed in any one image format among an RGB method and a YUV method through the camera without an additional operation; generating an image-processing image for real-time lane recognition of an area of interest for detecting a lane by preprocessing road image information; removing noise of the generated image-processing image, extracting a candidate lane, and detecting driving lane data by using an RANSAC algorithm; adjusting, in real time by using driving lane data, a position value of an area of interest extracted from the road image information and a lane width value referred to so as to generate a warning signal; and generating a lane departure warning signal when the detected driving lane data satisfies a warning generation condition.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
