PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION FOR PREVENTING AND TREATING EPSTEIN-BARR VIRUS-ASSOCIATED GASTRIC CARCINOMA COMPRISING QUERCETIN AS EFFECTIVE COMPONENT

The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating gastric carcinoma comprising 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-3,5,7-trihydroxy-4H-chromen-4-one (quercetin) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an effective component. In the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive gastric carcinoma cell line, the quercetin of the present invention induces soluble proliferation of EBV, thereby killing infected cells; effectively inhibits lateral transmission of EBV progeny viruses dissolved out of the cells to normal cells; indicates superior anticancer effect than the conventional isoliquiritigenin known for having antiviral activity and anti-EBV-positive gastric carcinoma activity; and significantly inhibits growth of EBV-induced tumors in vivo. Hence, the quercetin of the present invention may be beneficially used as an effective component in a pharmaceutical composition for treating and preventing gastric carcinoma.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
