The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for recovering heavy metal using a cross-linking reaction of sodium alginate and heavy metal, when adsorbing heavy metals in water through a direct reaction between sodium alginate and heavy metal ions, a concentration fraction of sodium ions and heavy metal ions is optimized to maximize the heavy metal adsorption efficiency, and oxidation of heavy metals is induced through heat treatment of heavy metal adsorbed alginate beads to improve the recovery efficiency of heavy metals, wherein the method for recovering heavy metals using a cross-linking reaction of sodium alginate and heavy metals, according to the present invention, comprises the following steps: titrating an aqueous solution of sodium alginate in wastewater containing heavy metals to induce crosslinking between alginic acid and heavy metals; recovering alginic acid beads cross-linked with alginic acid and heavy metals; and heat treating the alginic acid beads adsorbed on the heavy metals to convert the heavy metals into a metal oxide form.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
