Disclosed is a selective chloridizing method using CuCl to obtain high-quality chalcocite by selectively removing iron from concentrated Cu ore. To investigate a mechanism of the selective chloridizing method, a thermochemical analysis using a chemical potential diagram is performed, and iron is confirmed to be removed from concentrated Cu ore to be changed to gaseous FeCl_2 under an argon gas atmosphere at 1100 K by a selective chloridizing response. In this experiment, as a result of reacting CuCl with concentrated Cu ore for five hours under argon gas atmosphere in which 800-1100 K of sulfur exist; iron content in concentrated Cu ore is reduced from 23.6 mass% to equal to or less than 0.37 mass%, Cu content increased from 39.8 mass% to equal to or greater than 58.7 mass%, and high-quality chalcocite is obtained. Accordingly, iron is able to selectively be removed from concentrated Cu ore in a single process, and high quality chalcocite is able to be produced as a result.
