The present invention relates to a system and method for managing customized vehicle maintenance by using an On-Board Diagnosis (OBD) unit and Global Positioning System (GPS) information. According to the present invention, internal measurement item information for a vehicle, provided by an OBD unit in stalled in the vehicle by a vehicle maintenance shop, and GPS information obtained via a mobile phone are received from a remote vehicle failure prediction management system via the mobile phone of a driver. Multiple comparison analysis is performed on measurement item pattern analysis, driving habit information, and GPS information-based geographic and meteorological information regarding an area of operation of the vehicle based on vehicle state information average values calculated through processing of vehicle state information for each measurement item and the GPS information. Periods of replacement of expendables and failure prediction information are computed based on an actual condition of operation of the vehicle, and are transmitted to a terminal unit of the vehicle maintenance shop which has installed the OBD unit. Accordingly, only the terminal unit of the corresponding vehicle maintenance shop can communicate with a terminal unit of the vehicle within which the corresponding OBD has been installed, thereby performing maintenance.
