The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for protecting liver and curing hangover, containing a Heracleum moellendorffii HANCE extract as an active ingredient. More specifically, the Heracleum moellendorffii HANCE extract is obtained by extracting Heracleum moellendorffii HANCE using 70% fermentation alcohol, and, when cell damage is induced by ethanol after treating liver cell line with the Heracleum moellendorffii HANCE extract, cell viability increase. Accordingly, the Heracleum moellendorffii HANCE extract of the present invention increases activities of alcohol dehydrogenase, and thus can be useful as compositions for curing hangover.
