The present invention relates to a method for producing a mutant plant having functional stay-green phenotype and increased resistance to non-biological stress using ONAC106 gene, and to a plant thereby. The transgenic plant, obtained by over-expressing a gene encoding rice-derived ONAC106 protein, exhibits functional stay-green traits and increased resistance to non-biological stress. Additionally, by regulating the expression of the gene encoding ONAC106 protein, the development of transgenic plants with increased resistance to non-biological stress is possible, and senescence of plants can be delayed as well, thereby bringing an increase in productivity and quality of crops.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
