PCIE PHY DEVICE METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR OPERATION OF A LOW POWER PHY WITH A PCIE PROTOCOL STACK

A conversion circuit is provided to enable communication between the protocol stack for the PCIe ^TM communication protocol and the PHY layer for the low power communication standard. In one embodiment, the conversion circuitry includes logic to variously convert the signaling between two or more PHY interface standards. One or more PHY interface standards may include the PHY interface specification for the PCT Express specification (PIPE specification) and a standard for a relatively low power communication protocol. In another embodiment, the low power communication standard is a reference M-PHY module interface (RMMI) specification.
