The present invention relates to compositions comprising substantially water-soluble (meth) acrylamido-functional siloxanol and processes for their preparation and their use. The composition contains an acrylamido-functional siloxane oligomer obtained by reacting an aminoalkyl-functionalized silicon compound (or a hydrolysis product resulting from the addition of water) with acrylic acid anhydride. Typical starting materials are 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, 3-aminopropylmethyldimethoxysilane, 3-aminopropylmethyldiethoxysilane, 1-aminomethyltrimethoxysilane, and the like .
