Methods for measuring analyte concentration in a fluid sample are disclosed. These methods also allow error codes to be provided prior to providing the analyte concentration and allow for correction and / or compensation of interferences such as antioxidants. The measurement methods use information obtained from test sequences having at least one DC block, such as a slow ramped bipolar waveform, and closed circuit conditions are maintained during the DC block. The methods use information about the state of the redox mediator characteristic during electrochemical analysis to provide an antioxidant fail safe if the antioxidant interferes with the analyte concentration.
