The present invention relates to an artificial clay composition for playing with an excellent antibacterial function using volcanic sand and a manufacturing method thereof. The manufacturing method of the present invention comprises the following steps: (a) preparing basalt paste by mixing basalt powder and a thickener; (b) preparing starch paste by mixing starch with a wetting agent; (c) aging the starch paste; and (d) mixing the basalt paste and the aged starch paste to obtain an artificial clay composition. The artificial clay composition for playing, which is harmless to the human body, is eco-friendly, and has an excellent antibacterial function, can be manufactured through the present invention.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
