The present invention relates to a document classification apparatus and a method thereof. The document classification method according to the present invention includes a process of receiving an electronic document, a process of preprocessing the received electronic document and converting the electronic document into a file of a format that can recognize the content of the electronic document, a process of recognizing an item name and an item content corresponding to the item name in the converted file, a process of generating a start tag and an end tag corresponding to the recognized item name and generating an element having the content of the item between the start tag and the end tag as the content of the element; and a process of generating an output file including the generated element.
