FIELD: medicine.;SUBSTANCE: real time confocal laser microscopy of thyroid gland tissue is performed. When obtaining an image in the form of a grid with round or polygonal cells 20-200 microns in diameter with a 0.2 mcm thick partition, the absence of volumetric thyroid formations is diagnosed. When a reticular image with a cell diameter of more than 200 mcm is obtained, a nodal colloid struma is diagnosed. When an image with cells 20-200 mcm in diameter with a 10-30 mcm thick partition and fibrosis areas are obtained, thyroid adenoma is diagnosed. When an image with structureless masses with jagged corroded edges across the entire field of view with chaotically located light spots is recorded, thyroid cancer is diagnosed.;EFFECT: method provides fast and accurate diagnosis of thyroid formations in real time, intraoperatively.;2 cl, 3 dwg
