A mechanical singing bird comprising a base (2) and a frame assembly (4), a head (8), a body (10), wings (12) and a tail (14) the wings (12) and optionally the head (8) and the tail (14) being mounted articulated on said framework by means of connecting elements connected to their associated animation mechanisms, the assembly (4) being itself mounted on a base by means of a rod (6) connecting said assembly (4) to the associated animation mechanisms. According to the invention, the body (10) of the bird (4) is formed by a lower shell (18) and an upper shell (20) corresponding substantially to a ventral part and a dorsal part of the bird, the two lower (18) and upper (20) shells being joined along lateral joining lines (22).
