METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PFM-MODIFIED DIENBASED POLYMER, PFM-MODIFIED DIENBASED POLYMER AND THE USE THEREOF

There is provided a modified diene-based polymer wherein a diene-based polymer is graft modified with a polyether having a mercapto group attached via a diurethane bond. The formation of the diurethane bond is carried out by conducting successive reactions of two kinds of hydroxyl-containing compounds with a diisocyanate compound. By adding the modified diene-based polymer to a silica-containing rubber composition for automotive pneumatic tires, the dispersibility of silica compounded in the rubber composition can be improved and a property inherent in silica which simultaneously permits reduction of rolling resistance and stability on wet road surfaces , can be sufficiently effected.
