A cutting bead (13) for a sawing wire (15) has a geometrically determined cutting edge (2) and tapers from the geometrically determined cutting edge (2) against a direction of movement of the cutting bead (13) as intended. With such cutting beads (13) a sawing wire (15) is formed. In a method for producing a sawing cable (15), a cutting element (1) with a geometrically determined cutting edge (2) and a grinding element (6) with a geometrically indeterminate cutting edge (14) or a neutral element (8) are joined together. With the cutting element (1) and the grinding element (6) or the neutral element (8), a cutting bead (13) is formed. The cutting bead (13) is joined to the carrier rope (16).
