A method is provided for retrofitting a serration unit (300) at a trailing edge (201) of a wind turbine rotor blade (200). A portion (220) of the trailing edge (201) of the rotor blade (200) is cut out and removed. This can be done when the rotor blade (200) is still on a hub of the wind turbine (i.e., in the assembled state). A serration retrofit unit (300) is glued to the trailing edge (201) of the wind turbine rotor blade (200) in the cut and removed portion (220). The prongs retrofit unit (300) has a V-shaped profit and on its first side two attachment arms (311, 312) and on an opposite side a plurality of prongs (321). The two attachment arms (311, 312) are glued to the trailing edge (201) of the rotor blade (200) to mount the serration retrofit unit (300).
