TOMOGRAPHIC RECONSTRUCTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS

Projection data is acquired for a portion of a patient's body in multiple views using one or more detectors, wherein the projection data includes a plurality of two-dimensional (2D) projections. A 3D image is initialized. For each view from the multiple views, the 3D image is transformed using a view transform corresponding to the view to produce an original transformed image that corresponds to the view, and multiple iterations of a MLEM process based on at least the original one transformed image and the projection data performed. The MLEM process is initialized with the original transformed image. The 3D image is updated based on an output of the MLEM process.
