The present invention deals with a measuring device (600) for measuring the fineness and maturity of cotton fibers, said measuring device (600) comprising a measuring chamber (CM) into which a cotton fiber pattern is insertable, said measuring chamber (CM) having a first base and a second base opposing each other and traversable by an airflow entering the measurement chamber (CM) through the first base and exiting the measurement chamber (CM) via the second base; and a supply line (619) having an input end associated with a source of airflow and an output end associated with the first base of the metering chamber; a flow regulator (611) disposed along the supply line (609) between the input and output ends thereof; a first pressure sensor (612) for detecting the air pressure disposed upstream of the supply line (609) and the flow regulator (611); a second pressure sensor (613) for detecting the air pressure, which is arranged downstream of the supply line (609) and the flow regulator (611) and arranged upstream of the first base of the measuring chamber (CM); a proportional electronic pressure regulator (614) disposed upstream of the supply line and the first pressure sensor (612) for regulating the air pressure in the supply line (609); and an electronic processing and control unit (615) associated with the first sensor (612), the second sensor (613) and the proportional electronic pressure regulator (614) and programmed to control the proportional electronic pressure regulator (614) depending on the detected values of the first sensor (612) and the second sensor (613) or alternatively the second transmitter (613), the difference between the air pressure before and after the flow regulator (611) and the air pressure at the input of Measurement chamber (CM) to keep substantially constant and equal to a predetermined value.
