With a device for detecting and characterizing organic molecules in a liquid sample volume in the micro - and - submicroliter area by means of raman - and infrared spectroscopy, in particular by means of rr, water, and seira secars the invention is to provide a simple detection and characterization of organic molecules having a concentration below of the ppm - region in a liquid sample volume in the micro - and - submicroliter region due to the vibrational properties of the molecules by means of the aforementioned method of the raman - spectroscopy and the infrared spectroscopy be achieved in a single device.This is accomplished by means of a micro fluidics chip (2) with at least one upwardly open microfluidics channel (3) for the passage of the sample volume and as a result of the at least one microfluidics channel (3) covering, which serves as measuring windows transparent plate (7), which on the said at least one microfluidics channel (3) facing side with a metal island film is coated, and by a on the plate (7) directed detection optics (14) is achieved, which light onto the plate (7) transmits and receives the reflected light beams.
