The invention relates to an organic electrolyte (6) for a capacitor which contains at least one redox-active substance. This is selected from the group consisting of aldehydes, ketones, imines, imides and chemical compounds that are oxidizable to any of these substances. The invention further relates to the use of the organic electrolyte (6) in a supercapacitor, in a pseudocapacitor or in a hybrid supercapacitor (1) and a hybrid supercapacitor (1) containing the organic electrolyte (6).
