A parking area comprises a first and a second area, each of which is set up for parking a motor vehicle, a usage authorization for the second area being limited in time. A method for parking a motor vehicle on the parking area includes steps of determining that there is room in the first area to park the motor vehicle parked in the second area thereon; and the automated re-parking of the motor vehicle from the second area into the first area.
