Indicator carrier for determining the carbonation depth of mineral building materials and method for determining the carbonation depth

There is proposed an indicator carrier for determining a carbonation depth of a concrete element comprising a hydrogel; and an indicator substance homogeneously distributed in the hydrogel, the indicator substance comprising a pH indicator with a color change between a pH of 7 and a pH of 12, selected from phenolphthalein, alizarin yellow and thymol blue. It is also proposed a corresponding method using the indicator carrier.
