Apparatus and method for performing high voltage impedance analysis and short circuit diagnostics for a vehicle

In at least one embodiment, an apparatus for performing a high voltage short circuit diagnosis (HV short circuit diagnosis) and an impedance analysis for a vehicle is provided. The device comprises a control unit configured to measure a first voltage associated with a battery and a first current varying based on a HV power network during the precharge operation and the short circuit diagnosis based on the first voltage and the first stream. The controller is further configured to determine a difference between the first voltage and a precharge voltage across one of a capacitor and the HV power grid and to measure a second current based on at least the difference. The control unit is further configured to perform the impedance analysis for the vehicle based on the second current.
