A system for managing editing proposals in a collaborative document, the system comprising: means for creating a template of the document associated with the collaborative document; Means for receiving a first edit proposal on the collaborative document from a first user; Means for assigning a first proposal command to the first processing proposal based on a type of the first processing proposal and a type of the document template; Means for applying the first suggestion command to the template to present the first suggestion within the collaborative document; Means for receiving an acceptance indication for the first processing proposal; and means for updating the document template with the first suggestion command in response to the received acceptance indication.
