The present invention relates to a method of modeling in three dimensions of a face shown in an image in two dimensions, including: - an acquisition (1000) of the coordinates of at least one point of the surface of the face on the image, - a first estimate (2200) of the shape of the face, the shape comprising a network of the vertex, each corresponding to a point of the surface of a face, and the estimation of the laying of the face on the image, the method being characterized in that it further includes a step consisting of deforming (3200) the shape of the face in order to obtain an estimation of the refined shape of the face on the image, the deformation being continuous with respect to the first estimate of the shape of the face and the coordinates of the projection on the image of at least one vertex being constraints to correspond to the position of a corresponding point of the face on the image. The present invention is particularly applicable to the authentication or the identification of persons.
