A detector of presence of an apparatus for the public lighting, the detector comprising at least one sensor of motion, a microcontroller (12), a block (14) and a first unit (16) for the generation of binary signals. This detector comprises, in addition, a cable (48) comprising four electrical conductors, two electrical conductors (30, 32) configured to the current supply of the power supply unit, a first electrical conductor (42) and a second electrical conductor (44) forming an interface (46) of communication, the first generation unit of binary signals being connected between the two electrical conductors forming the communication interface. This detector comprises, finally, the first means (20) of the selective electrical connection between a positive output (34) of the power supply unit and the first electrical conductor of the communication interface and the second means (22) of the selective electrical connection between a negative output (36) of the power supply unit and the second electrical conductor of the communication interface.
