The invention concerns a method for managing an atypical event during the operation of a motor vehicle comprising a heat engine (1) having an associated cooling circuit comprising an electrical distribution valve (4) connected to a control unit (5), the method comprising the steps of: - searching for a correlation relationship between the atypical event and a temperature of the heat engine, - configuring the control unit, depending on the correlation relationship, in order to generate a control signal upon occurrence of the atypical event, and - applying the control signal to the distribution valve.
