A spark plug electrode gap setting pliers (10) is provided. The pliers (10) include a first jaw portion (18) coupled to a first shim (84) and a second jaw portion (20) coupled to a second shim (84). Upon actuation of the pliers (10), the first and second jaw portions (18,20) close in parallel to bend respective electrode supports of a pair of electrodes, or to bend the pair of electrodes to provide a parallel gap between the pair of electrodes.
