Provided is an aluminum alloy wire rod capable of achieving both a high vibration characteristic and a high bending fatigue characteristics while ensuring high conductivity and a moderate yield strength even when used as an extra fine wire having a strand diameter of less than or equal to 0.5 mm. An aluminum alloy wire rod of the present invention comprises Mg: 0.1 to 1.0 mass%, Si: 0.1 mass% to 1.2 mass%, Fe: 0.10 mass% to 1.40 mass%, Ti: 0 mass% to 0.100 mass%, B: 0 mass% to 0.030 mass%, Cu: 0 mass% to 1.00 mass%, Ag: 0 mass% to 0.50 mass%, Au: 0 mass% to 0.50 mass%, Mn: 0 mass% to 1.00 mass%, Cr: 0 mass% to 1.00 mass%, Zr: 0 mass% to 0.50 mass%, Hf: 0 mass% to 0.50 mass%, V: 0 mass% to 0.50 mass%, Sc: 0 mass% to 0.50 mass%, Co: 0 mass% to 0.50 mass%, Ni: 0 mass% to 0.50 mass%, and the balance: Al and inevitable impurities, wherein in a cross section parallel to the wire rod lengthwise direction, no void having an area greater than 20 µm 2 is present, or even in a case where at least one void having an area greater than 20 µm 2 is present, the presence ratio of the voids is on average in a range of less than or equal to one void/1000 µm 2 .
