The present invention relates to an earthing device for an electrically conductive jacket of a cable, particularly for aluminium or lead jackets as are used for low voltage cables. An earthing device (100) for an electrically conductive jacket (120) of a cable (116) has a contact element (102) with a connecting line (104) for connection to an earthing point, the contact element (102) being constructed such that it surrounds a periphery of the cable, at least in part, in the mounted state. A retaining element (108, 110) for pressing the contact element (102) onto the electrically conductive jacket of the cable is also provided, the retaining element (108, 110) being constructed such that it surrounds the contact element (102) from the outside in the mounted state and generates a defined electrical contact between the contact element (102) and the electrically conductive jacket (120).
