Method for multi-spectral acquisition and processing of images in order to characterize at least one optical property of a non-linear imaging device, the method comprising:- exciting at at least one wavelength a calibration tool (3) comprising a predefined distribution of harmonic generating nanoparticles (6);- acquiring at least one optical signal generated by the calibration tool in response to this excitation; and- processing the at least one signal to generate therefrom data useful to characterize said at least one optical property of the device.
