A method is proposed for calculating optimized capacities for containers (56) of an agricultural material application machine (30), wherein a route plan is created and the constant or site-specific variable amount of material to be delivered along the path of the individual containers ( 56) provided for each container (56) is added up for the calculation and output of each filled quantities. In addition, a path plan optimized for the machine (30) can be calculated in order to even out the quantities of material to be taken from the individual containers (56).
