To provide an earthquake countermeasure device for a ceiling that can absorb the vibration energy of the ceiling due to an earthquake and conduct an effective countermeasure.SOLUTION: An earthquake countermeasure device 10 for a ceiling comprises an energy absorption unit 30 between a stationary portion 11 at ceiling side and a stationary plate 14 at roof side. The energy absorption unit 30 is provided with a movable shaft 35 in the longitudinal direction of box-type case. A spring mounting plate 34 is mounted at a top end of shaft 35, and the stationary portion 11 at ceiling side is fastened on an outside lower end of shaft 35. An upper spring 33 is provided on an upper portion of spring mounting plate 34, and a lower spring 32 is provided on a lower portion thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
