PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a polymer, a resin composition and an antifouling coating composition capable of forming a coating film having both antifouling property and water resistance due to the superhydrophilicity; a method for producing the polymer; a method for forming an amphoteric ionic structure on the surface of the coating film using the polymer; and a method for regenerating the amphoteric ionic structure.SOLUTION: There is provided a polymer having structures (I) represented by the following formulas (I-1) and (I-2). In the formula, Rrepresents an alkylene group which may have a substituent or a group containing -O- or -S- between the carbon atoms in an alkylene group, Rto Reach independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkylene group which may have a substituent, an alkoxy group or a phenyl group and Zrepresents a counter anion. Two of Rto Rmay integrally form any of an alkylene group which may have a substituent, a group containing -O- between the carbon atoms in an alkylene group and a phenylene group.
