PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DNA specimen collection tool that can inhibit the growth of germs during transportation and storage and that can prevent damage to DNA specimens during transport.;SOLUTION: The DNA specimen collection tool comprises: a vessel 1; a lid 2 that seals an internal space 13 within the vessel 1; a rod body 3 attached to the lid 2 and having a collection part 32 at the tip thereof; and a desiccant 4 filled in the tip of the internal space 13. The desiccant 4 is secured to the tip of the internal space 13 by being covered by a covering member 5 from the proximal end side. The covering member 5 has a two-layered structure comprising a piece of paper 51 on the tip side and packing material 52 on the proximal end side. The packing member 52 pushes a corner of the piece of paper 51 into an inner surface 14 of the vessel 1 and is thereby secured to the vessel 1.
