PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing linearized and non-linearized portable document format (PDF) files for use in printing.SOLUTION: A printer firmware performs: a step of determining whether or not a printer drive detects that a PDF file is linearized; a step of storing stream data of the PDF file when determining that the printer driver detects that the PDF file is linearized; and a step of determining whether or not the PDF file is linearized when the printer driver does not yet confirm that the PDF file is linearized, which specifies whether it is true or not that a linearization error occurs during linearization processing, and specifies and processes a printing error in parallel while storing and interpreting stream data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
