PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underground heat exchanger that can be installed in a narrow land, and improve an efficiency of heat transfer from soil so as to downsize a device, and so as to reduce an occupied area, installation expenditure as well as operation expenditure of the device.SOLUTION: A thick tube lateral installation inclination convection current type underground heat exchanger of this invention is a metallic straight pipe buried in the underground in an inclined laterally laid state. Both ends thereof are sealed at two end surfaces crossing a long axis at a right angle, with upper and lower part thermal medium outlet/inlet and a lower part thermal medium outlet/inlet arranged at an upper part of a top end surface on a higher end side and at a lower part of a bottom end surface on a lower end side, respectively. A sectional area of the inside part of the straight pipe is 314 cmor more, a ratio between a clearance between the upper end surface and the lower end surface and a level difference is in a range of 3:1 to 100:1 and either a concrete layer or a mortar layer is arranged around the straight pipe.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
