PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte for a solid oxide fuel cell, which can stabilize the crystal structure of scandia-stabilized zirconia in a cubic crystal structure at an atmospheric temperature while retaining high oxygen ion conductivity that the scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte (11ScSZ) has originally, and which can improve the tendency of sustained degradation of ion conductivity in a reduction atmosphere, which has been a disadvantage of scandia-stabilized zirconia with an existing cerium oxide (CeO) solid-dissolved therein, thereby ensuring the stability in a reduction atmosphere.SOLUTION: A scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte for a solid oxide fuel cell according to the present invention is a zirconia (ZrO) electrolyte stabilized by solid-dissolving a scandium oxide (ScO) therein. In the scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte, one or two kinds of oxides selected from a gadolinium oxide (GdO) or samarium oxide and an ytterbium oxide (YbO) are substitutionally solid-dissolved, which improves the stability in a reduction atmosphere.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
